Jimmy White Crushed in Heartbreaking World Snooker Championship Qualifier Defeat

**Jimmy White Misses Out on 2025 World Snooker Championship After Qualifying Defeat**

Jimmy White will not compete at this year’s World Snooker Championship after falling short in the second round of qualifying.

The six-time finalist, 62, last appeared at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre in 2006. Currently ranked No. 93, White made a valiant effort at the English Institute of Sport this week.

After a thrilling comeback from 7-3 down to beat Anton Kazakov 10-9 in the first round, White couldn’t replicate his heroics against Ashley Carty.

The veteran trailed 6-1 early and, despite a late rally to 8-5, ultimately lost 10-5. Carty, the world No. 67, now advances to face China’s Pang Junxu in the next round.

White may now rely on a wildcard to continue his professional career. The Londoner previously received one from snooker chief Barry Hearn in 2016.

Earlier this year, White said: *”I got mine on merit the last couple of years. Barry told me that as long as I keep competing, I’ll keep getting the wildcard. I still love the game—practising, exhibitions, and the occasional big win.”*

Meanwhile, Ronnie O’Sullivan’s Crucible participation remains uncertain. The 49-year-old has withdrawn from his last five ranking events but recently sparked hope by hitting a 147 in practice. A final decision will follow three practice sessions this week.
