McGill Continues to Dominate as Selby Takes Control

Anthony McGill stands on the brink of reaching the quarter-finals of the Cazoo World Championship after dominating his last 16 matches against Jack Lisowski at the Crucible. The Scottish player currently leads 11-5 after the second session, with Lisowski requiring an epic fightback to progress.

McGill, seeking his fourth quarter-final appearance at the venue, produced an impressive performance in his first-round win over Judd Trump and has continued his excellent form against Lisowski. The Glasgow native led 7-1 after the first session and extended his lead to 10-1 in the second before Lisowski mounted a brief comeback.

Despite Lisowski winning three frames in a row and attempting a 147 break, McGill held his nerve to secure the final frame of the session and maintain his commanding advantage. The two players will return for the concluding session tomorrow evening.

Meanwhile, four-time World Champion Mark Selby has taken charge of his last 16 matches against Gary Wilson, leading 10-6 after the second session. Selby, who has enjoyed a successful return to form this season with titles at the English Open and the WST Classic, produced breaks of 59, 91, and 71 to establish his lead. He requires just three more frames to progress to the quarter-finals.

Tomorrow, the limelight will be on Ronnie O’Sullivan when he clashes with Luca Brecel from Belgium. This is expected to be an interesting match as O’Sullivan, a seven-time World Champion, has shown excellent form lately and will be hoping to maintain his impressive display against Brecel.

Spectators globally are keeping a keen eye on the events, with an impressive multitude following the clashes in real-time via television and the internet. With the stakes this high, the contenders must bring their best performances if they wish to become triumphant at the Crucible.
