Xintong, who recently returned from a 20-month ban, has been in impressive form throughout the tournament, living up to the pre-event hype surrounding him. The 28-year-old Chinese star secured victories over last year’s runner-up Jak Jones in the opening round and compatriot Lei Peifan in a hard-fought 13-10 battle. On the other hand, Chris Wakelin has emerged as the surprise package of the championship. Despite never having won a match at the Crucible before, the 33-year-old Englishman has looked comfortable and confident, eliminating both Neil Robertson and Mark Allen en route to the quarter-finals. Wakelin’s unexpected success has made him a player to watch out for, and he will undoubtedly enter this match without any fear of his opponent. As both players have displayed excellent form and determination, this quarter-final promises to be a closely contested and lengthy affair. Xintong’s natural talent and impressive comeback combined with Wakelin’s giant-killing run thus far set the stage for a memorable battle. With neither player likely to give an inch, it would not be surprising to see this match go the distance, potentially exceeding the 21.5 frame mark. The match is scheduled to commence at 10:00 am UK time (5:00 am US ET, 2:00 am US PT) on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Fans in the UK can watch the action live on BBC and TNT Sports, with online streaming available via BBC iPlayer, the BBC Sport website, and discovery+. Unfortunately, the match will not be televised or streamed in the US. For those hoping to attend in person, tickets can be purchased through the official Crucible Snooker website.
